The GREAT THINGS I have learned about good ol Spencer Iowa

I have been thinking lately and have thought to myself what I have really learned out here in good ol Iowa! Living out here has not only taught me many things, it has helped me find out who I really am. I am just going to share with you some of the things I have learned and experienced out here in the rolling hills..

1. When you get the opportunity to do something crazy, and out of your comfort zone do it! Move 19 hours away from your only family and friends to some foreign place you have never heard of... such as Spencer, Iowa. And find out all the wonderful things about it!
2. When buying food to take to college with you make sure and not bring corn to spencer... because that's all you see for miles and miles.
3. Get to your dorms early so you can have dibs on rooms, so you don't get gypped into having to share a two person bedroom with 3 people. Sorry Drew, Sel, Becc :D
4. When you find an addicting song such as Moves Like Jagger, and decide to wake up to it every morning at five in the morning for soccer. You come to find that you later hate the song with a passion!
5. Never be late to practice! Getting yelled at at 5:30 in the morning isn't that delightful especially when coach uses a full vocabulary. #$@&&@^!!
6. Go star tripping.... the funniest, dizziest, thing to do in Spencer!:D
7. When we complain about the heat in Utah, wait till you move to another state, then you really come to find out what is extremely hot and humid, and cold and frigid!
8. When you get bored and decide to go with some crazy random boys from the soccer team to a deserted house, found out its completely deserted before you walk around the property and repeatedly go back, because then you find that someone really lives in the house and you get chased going 100 mph to get away. And when you do find a deserted house to go into and get freaked out make sure to have a guy next to you :D
9. When you see a charter bus and come to find that we get to ride one to all our home games, dont get too excited because being on that bus with the guys and girls team sucks! Reasons why the bus sucked: It is SO uncomfortable! And when they play a movie, its so loud that you have to scream to talk to the person next to you or when you are listening to music you have to turn it up full blast. The bathroom stinks up to high heaven. You learn not to sit in the backseat of the bus because people freak out. Our bus driver almost killing us several times, I mean come on its your job! Learn how to drive! Its either extremely hot or cold on the bus. So lesson learned dont make a fool outta yourself and get all excited when you see the bus!
10. When going shopping you come to find out that a college athlete diet usually consists of lots and lots of gatorade (blue is the best) and granola bars... great diet right?!
11. Having a hott men/quote wall was the smartest thing we could do to decorate our front room! Always brings a smile to your face... such as Drew: "When Thomas and Brittney get married and have kids will they be born with accents?" or Selena: "Its hard being a single father raising four children." hahah it makes you smile every time!
12. Learn to never take the dishwasher/washer and dryer for granted! Spending $4 for each load of laundry gets quite expensive.
13. When washing your clothes in the creepy laundry mat make sure and bring someone with you, especially when you get stalked by creepy men! Also make sure to have the cap on the laundry detergent fully on so that it doesnt spill all over your clean clothes, and then you having to do laundry again!
14. Dont laugh when you find out they really have a corn palace and lots of people actually go there to see it... can i say weird?!
15. When going to Mall of America make sure and have enough time to go, because when your coach limits you to only a couple hours it totally overwhelms you because there is 4 floors and over 200 stores and you want to look at all of them!
16. When there is a state fair, take every advantage and go to as many concerts as you can! You wont regret it! And go on rides with your roomies, just remember one thing dont eat before you go.
17. Dierks Bentley is a hot man!:)
18. When you are at the Clay County Fair make sure and try ALL of the fatening deep fried foods they have! Especially the deep fried snickers bar, deep fried donuts, strawberry smoothie, grater tater, deep fried cheese curds... but I didnt care to try the deep fried butter and giant turkey leg.. Iowians you guys eat weird!
19. We found that Iowa people dont know how to say Apricot, or bag/flag for that matter... hahah
20. When it come to homework, learn to do it first and get it done... rather than waste all your time on Facebook, Pinterest, a blog and realize that its due in a couple of hours.
21. NEVER take a home cooked meal for Granted! The Dock (cafeteria) is disgusting and you usually find your self complaining and wishing for a home cooked meal and then cooking yourself something.
22. Pasta sides wayyyy better than top roman!
23. When my dad sends me a box full of knives in the mail, dont show your roommates because then they freak out and think that you are gonna kill them sometime.
24. When pranking the boyz learn that they play dirty and will get you back 10 times worse... especially with 3200 dixie cups full of water. Boy that was fun to clean up:0
25. Dont let anyone know that when someone makes a throw up noise that it really bothers you and almost makes you throw up yourself.. because then people make the sound as a joke.
26. Buy sleeping pills especially when you are a light sleeper, because if you dont you may wake up to sounds you really don't enjoy... cough cough :D
27. Never try to climb out of a window when you are on crutches, doesnt really work out too well.
28. On that note be extremely careful when you are on crutches and think you are invisible especially on ice. hahaha
29. Never make fun of your roommates car never working cause karma comes back and bites you in the butt, resulting in a $400 dollar repair on your truck :/
30. Learn that when you wanna pull a prank on your roommates its hilarious at the time until you get payback :D
31. Go out with your friends and dress up and do something fun every once in a while, being cooped up in your dorm can get old after a while!
32. Make sure that your playlist for soccer music is "appropriate" and doesnt say one swear word, also nothing to do with retarded.. coach do you not know how hard it is to find a song that doesnt swear but pumps you up? Well its hard :D
33. After eating McDonalds you realize you regret it every time after you eat it
34. Going to Walmart at 1 in the morning is always a fun adventure, especially for a college student who is bored, tired and dumb.
35. Don't be surprised when you get pulled over by a cop because your license plate says Utah.
36. Rilee is the best. EVER.
    

FINALS and HOME!

Tomorrow is my last final, I am so stoked to be done with classes this semester. You see here in Iowa classes are pretty much completely pointless the teachers are rude, you have to go to class, and there is about 20 kids in your class and you see them everyday. So I am pretty much so excited for it to be over! My grades kinda, well actually pretty much suck so bad, which is ridiculous considering I was a 3.89 GPA in High School. But I have 2 A's, 1 B, and currently 1 C, which can change depending on how I do on this final. Now I noticed it pretty much sucks studying for finals especially because your grade rides so much on just one test... I personally think its dumb and hate it especially cause I am one of those people that you can say that has test anxiety. So pretty much saying I study hard, think I am ready to go and ace the test and when the test is then handed to me I instantly forget what I studied, sweaty palms and all, and then start to hyperventilate. Yep that's me!And in three days, I will be back in Utah!!!! WOO for mountains and friends! I am so excited to see my best friends Meredith, Rachel, Mary, and many others, I am also excited to see my family! UTAH IS THE BEST!!:)

SNOW!!*

Today was the first snow fall in good ol Iowa! I was so stoked to see it finally snow, especially because Iowa was looking a little yellow and dry.. mostly ugly hahah. It snowed all day, by the end of the night there was probably at least 5 inches of snow. Many of the guys and girls played out in the snow, Pam and Felipe (they are from Brazil) played out in the snow all day because they had never seen anything like it. I am so excited for them! I wish I could have played out in the snow with them, but sadly I was still on crutches so I didnt want to take the chance of getting hurt. Tanner took us in his car and we went and did donuts for a good hour, it was quite a eventful night and I thoroughly enjoyed it!:)

What time is it?!

Well today's the day! Surgery day! Judy came and picked me up at 1:00 and we headed to the hospital. They asked me for all my information and then took me to this room, they then proceeded to take my blood pressure and tell me to get undressed into the nice little robe lookin thing, and then they came in and stuck the nice little ivy needle into my hand. The doc then came in and asked if I wanted to have a "block" shot so that I wont have any pain till around midnight. So I decided ya that would probably be a good idea. Next thing I know is they lay me flat down and the doctor is holding this ginormous needle, he then sticks in right in my bikini area.. freak that hurts!!!!!!! I wanted to cry. I began to start to feel a little dizzy, and so they then rolled me to the surgery room and asked me to move over to the bed. They all then lean down and say, "see you when you get done" and BOOM I dont remember a thing! Next thing I know I am trying to open my eyes, and there is a lady standing next to me. I distinctly remember asking her what time is was... and her reply was hunny i dont know what you are saying... So I asked again and she gave me the same response. I was getting so frustrated because I was asking a simple question and she couldnt even answer me. Meanwhile I am in an out of sleep and when I wake again I am in the room I was first in. Judy was there to greet me and apparently I was hitting myself in the face to wake myself up. All i wanted to freakin know was what time it was! and no one would tell me! Come to find out its about 5:30 and the rest of the time seems like a blur to me. Kelsey apparently came to see me, and took some stupid videos of me saying some funny stuff. She couldnt stop laughing at me.. apparently I was that funny. But the thing that really freaked me out was that they told me that i could get dressed, and somehow someway i got dressed by MYSELF!! WTF? i dont remember this at all!! ha but then we left the hospital and they rolled me out, and I got in the car. Judy took me home to her house, and I got out and apparently almost fell on my face. I must have been really drugged! So I came into the room and Kelsey came and sat and talked to me. She got me cute balloons, that said thinking of you, and then Ellie and her mom showed up and brought me flowers and the same balloon. Ha great minds think alike I guess. But I was so happy to see them, but they got a good kick outta watching retarded videos of me and talking to me. I dont remember any of it sadly.. but I am sure i was a hoot or maybe just retarded :D

Breaking Dawn!!

Kelsey decided to take me to go see Breaking Dawn with her, so she picked me up and we went to her parents house so that Judy (Kelsey's mom) could show me where I was gonna stay and hang out the next few days after my surgery. They made us some dinner and we ate some delicious fajitas, then hurry and left for the movie. We were soooo excited to see it. When we got there I was expecting to see alot of teenage girls there, but instead was a not even half full theater with older couples and some young men. Something is wrong with Iowa... first of all in Utah the theater would be full for at least a week after it came out and the movie theater would be full of teenage girls excited to see the movie. The movie then began, and I must say I was a little dissapointed in some of the movie of course compared to the book, but they still did a good job. The movie was pretty intense and half way through I had to go pee, i didnt want to leave the movie but i just couldnt help it, so I ran to the bathroom and when i was pulling up my pants my 5 dollars fell outta my pocket into the toilet just as I flushed it. Just my luck! So as I sat and watched my 5 dollars being flushed down the toilet i realized that I had been missing the movie so I sprinted back to my seat to watch the rest of the intense movie. I got a good laugh because Kelsey freaked out when there was about 10 left in the movie, and Bella is supposedly dead. Kelsey could not believe it and the look on her face was priceless... she was so upset that Bella died. She kept turning to me and asking Bella doesn't die right? I couldn't help but just laugh! After watching her freak out for 5 minutes I finally tell her no.. Bella doesn't die, she was so relieved :)

STRANDED!

Well to start off the wonderful day I wake up to my 6am alarm going off to know that I have to take wonderful Diamond to the Des Moines airport. She then lets me know that I have to take her to walmart to get money and stuff then we finally leave good ol Spencer Iowa and hit the road, stop at a gas station about an hour later to fill up and get hot cocoa. After I turn my car on to find that my gas gauge is no longer working, we continue our journey for another hour and decided to fill up on gas just to make sure. During this whole journey we are listening to Diamond tell us her whole life story. It felt like the ride was taking forever! I was starting to feel a little relieved when i looked at my gps on my phone to find that we were in Ames only 45 minutes away from Des Moines. As we were driving 75 mph on the freeway in the fast lane i completely lost power and swerved into the right lane and cut off a truck and pulled to the side of the road when I realized my car completely shut off. No power what so ever. Just my luck! I look out my window to find that we are barely off the road, stranded, while the wind is blowing 30 mph outside. Diamond in the front seat starts to freak out and become very depressed because she thinks she is going to miss her flight. Meanwhile I try to call my mom and dad but no answer, what is this? When I really have an emergency no one cares? hahha jk. But really neither parent answered the phone so I really start to freak out. I then proceed to get out of the car to look underneath the hood, nothing seemed to be wrong. I then try to get back in the car trying to avoid being hit by semi trucks getting inches away from the truck. I thought for sure we were gonna die. Finally my mom answers the phone and tells me I need to call 911, and get a tow. So we do that exact thing and wait for the tow truck to come. 30 minutes later a young (good) looking man gets out and hooks up the truck. While this man is hooking up the truck. I get really annoyed and exclaim no I dont and grab the cup of water sitting in my cup holder and there was water in it, and it went all over Diamond and her phone. She then freaks out and starts screaming you ruined my phone!! The man then tells us to get in his truck and then takes us to the shop and tells us that our alternator went out. Diamonds mom called and got her a taxi to take her to Des Moines so she doesnt miss her flight... so when the taxi pulls up and older looking man steps out the kind of man that you could label as a pedophile. So Diamond proceeds to grab her bags and then says to me I dont know how i am gonna pay him, and he just smiled and said its already paid for.... how is it paid for? Hopefully not in sexual favors!! Diamond then looks and says "Im scared" baha i was scared for her. As we look into the car we find that there is a little dog in the drivers seat... may i just add that is really creepy. We wave Diamond and the little chiwawa goodbye. We then decide to walk across the street to get some Mexican food, when Kayla decides to just step out in the middle of the street on both green lights.. i start to scream, then she starts to scream and ran back.. she almost got killed! We finally made it to the restaurant and ate some delicious food when the man working on my car calls and tells me that my total to get my truck fixed would be $476 I almost threw up my food right then and there. I then called my dad and he chewed me a little but then took care of the bill. My dad is too good to me, he is great! The mechanic then tells us that our car wont be done until 6pm and it was currently 12... what to do for 6 hours... with no care... in some strange random place. We then walk to Target and walk around and begin to mess around and try some masks on in the toy section, we had a great ol time. Jared then proceeds to creep on two girls and then ask them directions to the movie theatre... what would you do if some strange random boy came up to you and asked the directions to the movie theatre and if we could all get a ride. Awkward! bhahah. Anyways we then find a ride to the movie theatre and decide to go see Jack and Jill, I then fall asleep because of the longest day ever. After the movie Tanner and Jayscon came and picked us up and took us back to the mechanics store, thankfully the truck was done! Thank heavens. What a day... or should i say FML!

Surprise!!!!:)

So i am sitting at Cortnee's computer with the window open when I hear a bunch of noises coming from outside, so I look out the window and I see Rilee, Mary, Jynette, and James all run past the window.. for a second there I thought I was seeing things. So I started freaking out, meanwhile Cortnee is laying on her bed and is like what wrong with you?! I freak out saying I just saw Mary and everyone What the Crap!!??? And of course Cortnee starts to laugh and was like whatever... your seeing things. I was thinking seriously I saw them, and then i begin to question Cortnee as if she knew they were coming to surprise me...Cort now begins to really think i am crazy. Then there is a knock at the door, and Selena opens the door and says someone is here to see you? So I walk out and open the door... and to my surprise I find my friends standing in front of me.. I couldnt believe they were here in Iowa to see me on a Friday afternoon! What a surprise!
